LISAS was established in the year 1992 by a group of committed Academicians and Bureaucrats.


L.C. Institute of Social and Applied Sciences (LISAS), the parent organization of LISAS'IAS, is registered under Societies Registration Act (Act XXI of 1860) having Registration No.5444-483.


LISAS’IAS is headed by Dr. Linu Chayani, founder Director. She is a highly qualified and committed academician being first class first in both BA and MA, having M.Phil. from Delhi University, Ph.D. from Utkal University. Her innovative methods and expertise have helped a large number of students to be successful in Civil Services Examinations and also in other Competitive Examinations.


LISAS is associated with expert faculties with long experience in imparting result oriented guidance. They adopt scientific techniques to bring out the hidden potential of the students to succeed in Competitive Examinations. Eminent Civil Servants also regularly interact with the students of LISAS’IAS and share their techniques of success. The permanent faculties of LISAS’IAS are always available to guide the students in the course of their preparation.


LISAS is having its own library with special emphasis on Books, Journals, Materials, Magazines, News Papers required for preparation of Civil Services Examinations and also for other Competitive Examinations. The Library run by LISAS has seen addition of a lot of new books and upgradation of its infrastructure. The library of LISAS is found to be immensely helpful for a large number of students of the Institute. The library has more than 15000 books. Institute’s Library is open from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

  • Regular Unit Tests and Very Similar Tests (VSTs) followed by evaluation and doubt clarification.
Correspondence Course

LISAS’IAS also guides the students for different Competitive Examinations under  Correspondence Course. Under Correspondence Course the institute provides :

  • Study Mateirals covering the entire syllabus
  • Classes for Doubt Clarification
  • Participation in Unit Tests & Very Similar Tests (VSTs)
  • Questions and Answer are sent by post and through E-mail regularly.


Reputation of the institution is increasing day by day among the public and also at the Govt. level. Governors of Orissa, Karnataka, Hariyana & Meghalaya as a part of the committee constituted by Govt. of India visited Orissa to study the problems and bottlenecks affecting the development of SCs & STs. The Director of LISAS was invited to attend a meeting by them at Bhubaneswar. The Director of LISAS participated in the deliberation and gave valuable suggestions for improvement of the candidates belonging to weaker sections.The Director of LISAS has been nominated by the Govt. of Orissa to be a member of the Vigilance Committee to supervise the works of the NGOs in Khurda District. This enhances the credibility of this institute. On accounts of its results and achievements LISAS has become very popular in the state especially among the students of Orissa as a pioneering academic institute.
